Default Noobie needs advice!

Hi guys I am a noobie to website design and I need some advice. I am an experienced graphic designer (print) so no real worries about the visual and aesthetic considerations but I am really struggling in deciding how to set up a way of working that will suit my needs. I have made two decisions so far – Joomla will be the core and my hosting from buyhttp. This may be a control freak thing, but as much as I admire the design and functionality of the superb templates that are available – it’s not my design. Plus, I am not really learning much by tweaking other peoples work. What I noticed when I downloaded a blank Joomla page and JoomlaXplorer from the fantastic Cory Webb’s web page was that these files appeared to have been created in GoLive and joomlafied (as Cory describes it). Here’s the question! Is it feasible I could build a complete website in GoLive with all its WYSIWYG and functional benefits (perhaps based on Cory’s blank page) and somehow import into a Joomla site to take advantage of all it’s great features? Your thoughts, advice or shear, horrific reaction would be greatly appreciated! Thankyou.

Templating in Joomla is extremely easy. All it is is a standard HTML template with a few php calls placed where you want the functionality.

You can design the template however you wish, then look at existing templates to find the code you need to insert for the functionality.

Thanks Doyle for your response. Do you mean creating a template in Joomla is easy or creating a template in another app. (in my case Golive or Dreamweaver) and importing the template into Joomla is easy?
If I could design a site using one of these WYSIWYG site builders and simply import that site into Joomla then that would be a working solution for me.

You can create it in any program you like. Think of it as a normal HTML template you could use on any site. Then you just need to add a few special tags to get it to work with Joomla.

Procrastination over! I now feel confident enough that I can get this to work – just need to get stuck in now. I think those Joomla tags must be the ones in the blank page I mentioned in my first post. Thanks for your time and advice - much appreciated – keep up the good work.

yes joomla is very good open source and secured one, this is a seo friendly also.. and drupal also very good open source..

Main differences are as under

1. Drupal use smarty template where as on the other hand
Joomla dose not

2. Joomla uses plugin and modules whereas Drupl has module only

3. In drupal php code can be written directly whereas in
Joomla you need to install plugin for php support
