Default Sub-Menu Formatting

We have figured out how to do sub-menus, however when we assign a sub-menu to a menu item on the main menu, the formatting on the sub-menu item changes. IE. we lose the "icon" graphics beside the menu item and the text color changes. Is there something that we are missing in the setting for the sub-menu item or would this have to do with the template design? Any help is appreciated.

If you view the source of your page you will see the CSS for the sublevel. You'll then need to edit that CSS class in your template to get the formatting you want.

Default From Source

<div style="padding-left: 4px"><img src="http://www.crocusplains.com/Tabex/templates/bluebusiness/images/indent1.png" alt="" /><a href="http://www.crocusplains.com/Tabex/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id= 21&amp;Itemid=24" class="sublevel" >Zoos &amp; Aquariums</a></div>
</td></tr>

This is what we get in the area of the sub-menu.

if you go to: www.crocusplains.com/Tabex
and click on the wapotec link on the main menu you will see what I mean when it opens its next page. The sub-menu shows the text color is yellow rather then blue, and there is no bullet there.

The worst part is, that it is being stored on an external server (out of our building) and I don't know how to access the code to change it. Any thoughts?

Ok, it's just the standard "sublevel" css class you need to edit. If you login to the Joomla admin, then go to Sites -> Templates -> Site Templates you'll see a list of your installed templates. Check the checkbox next to the one you want to edit, likely the one of the the green checkmark under the Default column. Then click the Edit CSS button in the toolbar. Somewhere in that file you should see "a.mainlevel", after that add ", a.sublevel" and you should be set.

Default Unwritable

Thank you for your response.

I am having issues as it says that the CSS is unwritable. Is this a setting somewhere. As you can tell, this is my first Joomla website that I am working with, and of course there a strict timeline as we need it up and running by the 27th. Thank you again for your help!

Default Scratch that

I was able to get the host to unlock it for me. Now I am looking at the main level code as follow:

.lewakolumna a.mainlevel, .rightmod a.mainlevel{

margin:0px;
display:block;
text-decoration:none;
margin:0px;
text-indent:20px;
width:170px;
height:20px;
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, Sans Serif;
font-size: 12px;
color:#355BAA;
background:url(../images/linktlo.gif) no-repeat;
margin-left:5px;
background-position: 0px 0px;
line-height: 20px;
}

.lewakolumna a.mainlevel:hover,.rightmod a.mainlevel:hover{
color:#FFFFFF;
text-decoration:none;
background-position: 0px -20px;
}

Should I be adding a.sublevel after EVERY a.mainlevel? I slightly confused and dont want to mess up the template.

Those appear to be specific to certain module locations. Your best bet will be contacting the developer for specific assistance.
