You misunderstand me. I was not going to submit a template as i presumed there would be some pretty amazing submissions and i did not have the amount of time required to create a contender. However if i had known the quality of what was going to be submitted i would have thought twice, i'm not claiming to be an incredible designer but i can appreciate designs of a certain calibre and compare that to my abilities. As i said the design does not need to be anything amazing but it should adhere to certain criteria, which i feel none of the sites submitted do.

Not having a go at anyone in particular, just an observation.
I.E if someone had asked me whether i wanted to submit an electric car for the landspeed record and all i could come up with was a milk float i would recognise my limits and not enter the race.

Smile I agree with Mademyday

Smile everybody

Please show those who made a template for the contest some respect.
The deadline has been reached. Vote for the template you think is best
or leave it. It is very normal in paid designer's world to have a deadline
and it is not very often we are given more than a couple of weeks.

The Mambo community is an open and free world to every body who wants to participate.
If the winning template is not error free my guess is that the code will be corrected before releasing it. That is how things are going to work better.....
And I guess you will be dowloading them all as they go 'on air'.
At least there is a couple of good ideas/bid's here to make Mambo move towards more professional business, yours or others....
If you want a site looking like 500.000 other peoples go for the solarflare style.
If you want something more unique you should give the others a chance.
Success with a web requires that you are some kind of unique.

And to you Dinh, +++ for sharing your ideas and documention in your work!
(Mbt_macro_blue). Most template developers can gain from documenting and sharing thoughts from their work. That's also an important part of a good designers job.

Keep up the good work and interest
and happy spring to all of you out there showing interest in mambo!

There is an old sentence of life:
"Those who never participates, they get less than others"

Shocking
Do you really think this about my jamadama template? I didn't think it was that bad.

Anyway, I will release this template at mambohut and my own site, www.mambotf.com if I win this (wich i probably won't ) or not.

Please release the jamadama template even if you don't win!! I like it, even though it may be a little bit too sober and that I voted for the madeyourweb template. It is well done and I am sure quite a few people will give your template a serious try. (I would probably use it for a new site I am working on)

As for the other comments, I agree there are some awful templates there, but as already said: so what? These are free templates and there are at least three templates that are quite good. Not super impressive but then Solarflare isn't either in my opinion (I don't know why so many people use it).

One of the contest rules is that all submitted templates will be released under the GPL license, so everyone will be releasing their templates

Default let the mambo devs decide

i think that the mambo core dev team should decide what goes in to the core release.

i dont think a vote like this is really such a great idea to be honest, not saying anything negative about any of the entires...just that i think the dev team has to maintain a certain level of quality for Mambo. Places like MamboHut are the place for these kind of templates. Core templates must represent the best of Mambo. No offense intended to anyone, just my opinion.

ok, going back to my cave

Thank you, I will release it. Just released two new templates at my site - a port of the starcraft official site, and a old one called brownboxes that I have recoded and released in a 2.0 version. Hopefully they will be released on mambohut too!

Silly me.. Can I release it now, or do I have to wait until the contest is overwidth?

Is is a good initiative, though, and can be a good guidance for the team. But is this poll official anyway?

why is that? the contest has more than one prize and depending on this poll's result we will announce the winners. your prize is one of them, have you forgot?

I don't see what's wrong with *these kind of templates*? i personally thank everyone participated in this contest, future contest would be more organized and the chance to get more high quality templates is going to be better, just look at the bright side, this is not the last contest and not the last Mambo release.

I also like one of the templates in this contest which i voted for and it looks better than one of the default templates in Mambo 4.5.2 IMO
