Default Category list layouts when drilling from a section layout

I have a site in which the same category list layouts appears differently depending on how you get to them, and my client quite reasonably wants me to make each category list layout appear as he desires, regardless of how you get there. To see what I mean, let's start at this section welcome page:

guatemalagringo.com/content/section/11/41/lang,en

All seven categories of this section appear as links below the section welcome text, and I have also added them to the left column menu per my client's wishes. So far so good.

Click on the left menu item "What is Fundabiem?" and you will be taken to the category of that name. The four articles in this category appear as links below the category welcome text. They appear as I styled them in the menu item, and appear as desired.

Go back to the section welcome page URL given above. This time go to "What is Fundabiem?" but by clicking on the Joomla-generated link below the section welcome text. You will be taken to the same category as in the previous paragraph, but notice that the article links are styled differently. How do I change the styling of the article links here?

Searching the tips & tricks section of joomla.org, I found this article that addresses my issue:

docs.joomla.org/How_to_control_Category_List_layouts_when_drilling _from_a_Section_Layout

Unfortunately the described procedure does not work for me, presumably because it is written for Joomla 1.5.

I have consulted the 1.0.11 user manual, the Absolute Beginners Guide to Joomla, the FAQ, the rest of the tips & tricks section, searched these forums, and googled.

I am using Joomla 1.0.8 and PHP 4.4.7 on shared hosting. Yes, I know that is old and should be upgraded, but my client does not want me to upgrade him.

What should I be looking at to get these article link styled?
