Default best way to secure phpMyAdmin
What is the best way to secure phpMyAdmin, this is on a Mac OS X box. I will be the only person using it, on the local machine.

If anyone has access to the box, just use .htaccess protection on the entire directory.

Thats what I did, it just makes me a little nervous. The password is still going plaintext, across the network isn't it?
