I need some advice. I'm working with a freelancer who is in another country. He is helping build the ecommerce part of my site using php/mysql.

He requested FTP and cPanel access, of which I'm leery, especially cPanel.

What have you who've been in my situation, done in the past? Thoughts or suggestions?

I was thinking of creating a subsite through WHM, with its own cPanel, of which I can access as an Admin and change the cpanel later.

I just don't want them to access my dedicated server's "main" cPanel.

Anybody recommend something or a workflow with the developer?I appreciate any help offered.

I have not dedicated server but have shared hosting and have been face same problem in the past. I gave Cpanel access to developer for a particular time to upload some important files and creating database as he finished his work I requested to my hosting company to change my password and drop it in my Email ID. Thus I got solution of this problem.

You can tell your designer to work on remote desktop if possible, you can see of what he is doing, also as sunny said I will prefer that way of contacting web host to change pass.

The theme is interesting, I will take part in discussion. Together we can come to a right answer. I am assured.
