Are there any differences from 4.5.2 and 4.5.3 templates that one should be aware of?

Requirement numer 5 says "The template must make use of all the features and flexibility of Mambo". It is then rather crucial to know if there are differenced as mentioned.

I am not aware of any differences that templates would be able to take advantage of. The big things for the upcoming version are set to be a fully language aware admin side and the implementation of ADODB, along with bug fixes.

Anything that fulfills this requirement with 4.5.2 if fine.

Good question, i don't have a definite answer for you right now but i am not aware of any changes in the templates engine according to the mini-roadmap published here

But i will double check with the dev team and get back to you.

As for # 5 in the rules section, it mean that you need to make use of features like modules/menu class suffix, parameters, columns auto-hide and things like that, in other words, bring the best out of mambo in your template.

Thanks for quick reply!

As far as I know, there are no new thing s in the template engine, but one never knows.

E.g. the user3 topmenu released in 4.5.1 (i believe it was this version) due to the implentation of mymenu, and its CSS classes, is an example of stuff that one need to be aware of.

There's a couple of minor things..

There's a "td.columnpad" class that shows up for colunmns N+1 in multi column blog layout. What this means is that you can put a padding-left:15px or whatever to pad between the mutliple columns. Check out mamboserver.com to see this in action (this is patched version of 4.5.2).

Also, there is the mosLoadModules("position",-3); option. this creates a:

Code:
<div class="module"> <div> <div> <div> <h3>module title</h3> module body </div> </div> </div> </div>
structure. This allows you to do stretchable rounded corners.. as in mamboserver.com templates. (this was actually in 4.5.2.1 also).

Cheers,

Andy

Thanks Andy for the clarification!

So basically no hard core changes and templates designed to run under Mambo 4.5.2.1 environment should work fine under Mambo 4.5.3

We also added another rule to the list (Rules # 8 in red) as a reminder for designers to test the template using different browsers/OSs, This will also make it qualified for the first prize.

Does this mean something like this?
PHP Code:
<table>
  <
tr>
    <
td>Content in left collumn</td>
    <
td>Separator columnpad</td>
    <
td>Content in right column</td>
  <
tr>
</
table
By the way, where did you come by this rhuk?
