Default Caching Mambo?

Hey everyone,

We've got quite a large install that we're going to do, with a site that will receive about a million hits a month, and likely a few more sites doing the same on the same server. We really need to get caching up and running on the server properly. Anyone have any stories to share about how they have their caching setup? We were thinking of running Squid.

I run Mambohut.com on the built-in cache system in Mambo and i don't see any load on the server and we get a few millions hits a month.

Hey MamboHut (nice to see familiar handles) =)

Thanks for your email. That's really good to hear. We've been taking a good look at the number of db queries each mambo page does, and it looks like a lot! We're going to be doing mysql-caching as well, but from what I'd read on the official forums, it seemed that the caching system in mambo (4.5.2.1) wasn't actually working at all.

Best,
Ryan

I haven't been upgraded to 4.5.2.1 yet, i still use 4.5.1, (Don't tell anyone though, ssshh...). So have this been properly tested before?

I check the cache folder sometimes and i usually see it filled with cache files, but i haven't test it myself before to see if it's actually working or not, I usually look at the server load and since the load is low i assumed that it's working, I may need to take a closer look though
